Spring is in the air, and everyone is Kissing Jessica Stein (2001). Come join us for a free screening of this sapphic romcom classic at Ridgewood Commons, Wednesday 5/27 at 7pm.

The film starts with an all-too-relatable premise: love is hard to find in New York City. On a frustrated whim, the titular Jessica responds to a "women seeking women" classified, only to find herself swept up by the ensuing romance. The only problem? Her family, her friends, and a whole society that's not quite comfortable with her blossoming bisexuality.

Back in a time when even Ellen DeGeneres got canceled for coming out, Kissing Jessica Stein managed to bring representation-starved audiences a feature-length depiction of messy queer love. And unlike so many of the derivative romcoms of its time, this one remains a joy to watch: witty, tender, neurotic, and alive with romantic possibility.

Ridgewood Commons events are donation based, no one turned away for lack of funds.
Free Pools tickets are useful as RSVPs, and to help prepare for events, but are not required and will not be checked at the event.

We have no paid staff, but do pay rent - donations and subscriptions keep the lights on and fridges running.
