Shelley Hirsch: New Work Listening Party

“...Press. Press. Pressure. Treasure. Pleasure." Join FourOneOne for a FREE listening party and performative Q&A with Shelley Hirsch in celebration of her latest release Sext Tongs. Composed according to the rhythms of stream-of-consciousness texts Hirsch wrote while listening to recorded and live music, Tongs comprises sung and spoken text—by turns surreal, erotic, and humorous—realized through myriad voices.
Hirsch is an internationally acclaimed vocal artist and the winner of numerous awards in both music and interdisciplinary categories. She can be heard on more than 75 recordings, including with collaborators Christian Marclay, Ka Baird, and Kazuhisa Uchihashi.
Although she has been writing since childhood, this New York Listening Party marks the first public presentation of Hirsch's texts set to music.
