Everyone wants to meet people in nyc but no one wants to make the first move. Ice breakers sound like a good solution, but they are often just as awkward because their expressed purpose is ‘getting to know eachother’. Debate nights get people talking in a natural and entertaining way. It’s like karaoke night for nerds.
There will be a bowl of fun topics that people pick from randomly (examples: “what’s the best and worst subway line?”, “is cheating always immoral?”, “is a hot dog a sandwich?”) and a sign up sheet for participants. Two participants are paired together and called to the stage to debate. The winner gets a free shot.
