Solder Your Own Gear: The Glitchy Video Mixer
Learn to solder and make your own beginner video gear! Led by Jonathan Sims, participants will learn how to assemble and solder a Dirty Video Mixer using wire, switches, RCA inputs, wire, and a potentiometer. Originally designed by video artist Karl Klomp, his device takes in two composite video inputs and mixes them together, sync signals be damned. It’s a classic video tool and makes for some very trippy and glitchy effects.
An excellent first project for folks who are interested in both video weirdness and learning how to solder. Participants will walk out with a working dirty video mixer--all material costs are covered in the ticket price.
This event will run from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at TELEPATHY in Bushwick, near the Jefferson L station.
Once you submit this RSVP you will receive an email with further instructions.
