A weekly artistic/sexual salon in Brooklyn serves as the backdrop for an interlocking story of throuples, dominatrixes, drag queens, and a sex therapist chasing her first orgasm. SHORTBUS is a bold experiment in filmmaking where 9 actors collaborated closely with director John Cameron Mitchell to develop a narrative with non-simulated sex scenes at the center. Mitchell says this film uses sex the way music is used in a musical, asking “why not be allowed to use every paint in the paintbox?”
